To become a licensed hunter in New Hampshire, you must complete a Hunter Education course.
Hunter Education is required for new hunters to purchase their first hunting or archery license.
Classes are open to New Hampshire residents and non-residents.

Hunter Education covers safe firearms handling, archery equipment, wildlife management principles, map and compass skills, New Hampshire game laws and more.
NH Fish and Game offers two types of Hunter Education courses:

We are very fortunate to be able to offer these Hunter Education Courses at our facility.

There are usually two of the 2-day course and 2 of the Field Day courses for those that take the online Hunter Ed.

Course Schedules

The April classes filled up very quickly.

In June the next 2 day Course for Hunters Ed will be going on line at the NH Fish & Game Hunter Education website. These classes fill up very quickly. The Instructor suggests that if you have a child or relative that needs to take the course that you start looking for the August 3 – August 4th Two day Course at the beginning of June on the website.

The next Field Day course offered at AVFG Club facilities will be August 25th. Take the class on line at the NH Fish & Game Hunter Education Site . Complete the online course and then sign up for the August 25th Field Day.

In-Person Hunter Ed

Courses take place in-person and include the following: Must be 12 years old by the last day of the course.

  • Classroom lessons with certified volunteer instructors
  • Multiple-choice written exam (80% or better to pass)
  • Field day assessment and practical exam

Online Hunter Ed with Mandatory In-Person Field Day

Online courses include remote learning with an in-person field day. Must be 12 years old to take this class.

  • Self-paced online course
  • Chapter quizzes
  • Multiple-choice written exam
  • Field day assessment and practical exam (in-person required)
  • $29.00 fee
  • Plus $5 at the time of the class at the club
