Trap Shooting

Currently we try to shoot every Sunday at 9 am that the club facility is not in use for any other activity. Check the monthly Calendar to see when we will be there.
Tuesday we shoot at 4 pm.

If you would like to be on the email list for changes to the trap shooting schedule please email avfgclub.secretary@gmail.com and ask to be added to the email list.

For a brief period the Beginning of May – we went from $5.00 per round to $7.00 per round due to the cost increase in the birds. After much discussion when we were shooting and at a meeting, we returned to the $5.00 per round price. We are still making a little bit of money at that price and don’t want to price our shooters out of their comfort range for shooting.

We do have 12 ga and 20 ga shotgun ammo for sale on the days that we shoot. Just in case you only brought 1 box and want to shoot another round. The cost is $10 per box.

The Trap Machine has seen a large amount of repairs recently. A switch from the battery power that it was using to 110 volts to help solve the timing issue. A new cord to fire the birds. The age of the current equipment is someplace in the 15-20 years area. A decision was made by the Board to purchase a new trap machine from Atlas. Oscillating but without the wobble feature. We are anticipating a visit from Atlas in the fall to have them take a look at the old machine and advise us on what else needs to be done to it so we will have a viable spare machine. The board felt this was a valid decision, due to the popularity of trap shooting at this time at the club and our hope to start a Youth Trap Shooting Team. We have a number of young people that come to shoot with us, some of whom are already very good at this sport.

The new trap machine has arrived and is currently stored in the shipping container that the club purchased to store birds and materials for upkeep of the club. Since the machine is not as ‘tall’ as the old one, a base for it has been built to get it up to the needed height to clear the opening for launching the birds. Hopefully during the next work detail we will get the new machine in place.
