Haverhill Cooperative Middle School Community Night
We were invited to participate in the event to let the community know who we are and what we do. We had ‘two tables’. One to let everyone know how we support the NH Hunter Education Program and another to highlight our Annual Kids Fishing Derby.
We have 10 members of the club trained to be Instructors for the NH Hunter Education Program. That says alot for our club members. They want people to learn safety when hunting, to enable people to get their hunters ed cards so that they can get a hunting license. The ages of those taking the course range from 12 years old to ‘almost senior citizens’.
We highlighted the Fishing Derby as that is the first event of each summer for the club. It is generally held the 1st Saturday in June. The Warren Hatchery comes and stocks the river above the club and at the river at the club site. The participation in this community event boosted the attendance for our Annual Fishing Derby from 42 last year to over 60 kids participating this year. We provide lunch for all the participants and their family. We have 3 ages groups, and award in group for the Largest Fish, First Fish Caught, and first participant to catch their limit (5 fish). We also awarded a ‘Smallest Fish Caught” which this year was 6 inches. We get donations from area businesses and individuals to help us provide ‘door prizes’ to be won by each participant. Watch for our 2024 Fishing Derby pictures and results.
We have been invited back for the September date for this Community Night. We will be there!!
